MHWA Announces Increased Train Traffic

Mohawk, Adirondack, and Northern Railroad (Reporting mark MHWA) Announces Increased Train Traffic on the Rail Line from Carthage to Newton Falls, Emphasizing Public Awareness, Safety, and Anti-Trespassing Measures

Carthage, NY – The Mohawk, Adirondack, and Northern Railroad (MHWA) would like to make everyone along the Newton Falls Branch rail line aware of increased train traffic on the line from Carthage, NY to Newton Falls, NY. With a steadfast commitment to safety and community well-being, the MHWA stresses the importance of adhering to all rail safety protocols and discouraging trespassing on railroad tracks.

The MHWA has invested significantly in this rail corridor to ensure its availability to the region as a  transportation artery connecting with the national rail network. By revitalizing this vital rail corridor, the MHWA aims to support local businesses, promote economic growth, and bolster regional prosperity.

With the increased train traffic along this line, motorists and pedestrians must continue to exercise caution when approaching and traversing grade crossings along the line and must refrain from any trespassing on or about the railroad tracks. Any approach to a grade crossing must be taken with the assumption that a train is approaching and motorists, as well as pedestrians, should adhere to all applicable requirements for grade crossing safety.

“Safety is our top priority as we embark on this important endeavor,” stated the MHWA. “We are dedicated to ensuring the safe operation of our rail services and are committed to implementing robust safety measures to protect our employees and the public.”

“We urge the public to exercise caution and respect all posted signs, grade crossing signage, and signals near railroad tracks. Trespassing on railroad property not only endangers lives, but also disrupts our operations and jeopardizes the integrity of our transportation network” stated the MHWA.

The MHWA looks forward to serving the communities along this line and contributing to their continued  success.
