Gregory Cheshier promoted to Vice President of Operations

Gregory A. Cheshier of Genesee Valley Transportation has been promoted to Vice-President of Operations. Greg brings with him, to this new position, over 35 years of railroad experience. Greg began his railroad career with the Erie-Lackawanna Railway in 1972.

Welcome David Blount to the GVT Team

David R. Blount has joined the GVT team as Director of Business Development. Dave is a third generation railroader, whose management career spans more than 35 years beginning with the Penn Central in 1974; following an operational and sales position with Conrail, Dave entered the intermodal marketing sector.
Genesee Valley Transportation, a short line rail operator in New York State and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, will utilize Mr. Blount’s expertise to develop business strategies for their recently opened Batavia Transload Warehouse facility in Batavia, NY. Mr. Blount will also head business development activities on all of GVT’s rail lines in both states. GVT’s Director of Marketing, Ray Schloss, will continue is his existing capacity and work with Dave in locating new business on all of GVT’s railroads.

Batavia Transload & Warehouse Opens

Genesee Valley Transportation is proud to present its latest new venture, the Batavia Transload Warehouse, a 22,000 square foot complex featuring four at grade truck docks, insulated storage and warehousing, a 280' long covered raildock, and 27' high ceiling clearances. This impressive structure is to be used for transload activities (railcar to truck, truck to railcar) for both new and existing customers. The new Transload is situated at the halfway mark between the City of Buffalo and the City of Rochester. Through our partnerships with area trucking firms, the Batavia Transload Warehouse offers increased flexibility to these markets and other neighboring markets.
