‘the” Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad subsidiary of Genesee Valley Transportation, was proud to participate in the North Carolina Transportation Museum’s “America 250 Locomotive Celebration” at historic Spencer Shops. The weekend was wonderful with locomotives painted to celebrate the semi-quincentennial from all class 1 railroads, some regional shortlines, and railroad museums.
Genesee Valley representatives were in attendance and the event was a spectacular display of patriotism and an excellent forum for how railroads shaped the country and contributed to our Country’s success over 250 years.
Our representative was the Delaware Lackawanna 1776 painted at the Scranton Von Storch shop of the Delaware-Lackawanna. Bill Strein and his team at Von Storch outdid themselves on this one with a beautiful commemorative repaint of D-L 3007 (an MLW M-630) to the D-L 1776 using the D&H bicentennial repaint scheme as a foundation.
